The Kingdom of Bhutan often referred as the “Land of the Thunder Dragon” remains one of the world’s most exclusive tourist destinations in the world. Bhutan is a tiny country located in South Asia sandwiched between China and India. Bhutan’s unique and rich culture, tradition, architecture, festivals and the way of life forms the cornerstone as to why Bhutan is a must visit destination. Bhutan is also known for its diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna. Bhutan is home to some of the endangered species like the Black Necked Crane, White-Bellied Heron, Red Panda or the Royal Bengal Tiger.
Bhutan is best known for its philosophy of promoting Gross National Happiness over Gross Domestic Product and productivity.... The phrase ‘gross national happiness’ was first coined by the 4th King of Bhutan, King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, in 1972 when he declared, “Gross National Happiness is more important than Gross Domestic Product.” The concept implies that sustainable development should take a holistic approach towards notions of progress and give equal importance to non-economic aspects of wellbeing.
